The original prices of the S&A books in England was 7 shillings and 6 pence (7/6d), or 3/8th of a pound (£).

This would make them around £15 in today's washers, roughly averaging the RPI and GDP deflator.

As fat hard cover books, that's in the right ball park for such books today. Isn't it?
