Yes, it is a good illustration, but an even better one is Helene Carter's version in the American Lippencott editions. In that one, we see Nancy going up to a very snug looking North Pole building, with the D's looking out. Since I don't have an easy way to link it here, I put it in the North Pole file under photos, on the Tarboard yahoo group;

There are photos in that album (created by someone else) about the location of the building.
