One of our 'then' local TV channels used to run very old footage of life in Canterbury NZ and I remember seeing an outdoor meeting for something-or-other where at the end a frock-coated man stood up in front and led the crowd in three cheers for the King. It was definitely before 1910 as the title said the king in question was Edward VII and I would think it was for his recovery from illness - didn't his coronation get delayed because of pneumonia? And I believe he recovered from peritonitis after an operation late in life.
