More than one nice little old Lady has put a ruddy large spoke in my plans for a development. They are perfect little pests, stopping the path of progress. We need highways and buildings and sewage treatment plants. Let the little old Ladies retire to a nice 20 storey nursing home.

I guess it all depends what side of the railway line you are living on.

I think dear old ladies are wonderful. When I was fighting to save a railway they were my secret weapon. They ran my office; typed my letters; ran the shop; organised coffee mornings, teddy bear stalls and the annual railway fete. They also wrote lots of pesky letters which stopped the developers and the new road which threatened to kill the railway for ever.
