Yes, narrow waterways was one of the surprises for me that I hoped would receive commentary from those who have actually seen them. Would the regatta Port and Starboard were to race in really have been held in a channel THAT narrow?
One thing I disagree with was your faint praise of the Hullabaloos. They were only "appropriate for their roles" by contrast to most of the others. The twins were just a couple of cute little girls, not the strong characters I had envisioned. But sometimes a director is stuck with what he's got and has to make the best of it. (Note: When I said the casting wasn't too bad, I meant that everyone more or less looked the part without being obviously wrong in my mind. I did not even begin to address the acting!)
