Thank you Jonathan - your comment on the public insults reflects the way I've been feeling about Peter's increasing rudeness to anyone who states a position different to his own. For a while I felt as though it wasn't worth contributing any further as anything I wrote was met with comments such as the above - that I didn't 'understand' Ar's characterisation or logic just because I had an opinion of my own.
However I've reconsidered as this is a public forum and my opinion is as valid as the next person's. I may not always agree with people but all of us, Tars members or not, are presumably free to discuss whatever we like about AR, his characters and their motivations, his boats down to the last rib and sisterhooks - heck, even his nasal hairs if we so choose!
However, in the final analysis it is Ian's decision - please Ian, would you make a ruling on whether personal criticism about the content of people's postings should continue? This needs to be cleared up for the good of the board and the people involved.
I apologise to those who think this is out of order but I've had enough of being, as I see it, bullied.
