If a reader finds any character irritating, then I suggest that that reader has not quite got into the spirit of the books.

Peter,

What's the point of this comment? This is as close to a personal attack as I've seen on Tarboard for a long time. Whatever happened to your creed of discussing the books without making judgments about other participants? This is an incredibly rude and astoundingly pompous statement that has rendered all your previous attempts to soften the tone of this board utterly laughable.

How dare you fall back upon the "if you don't agree with me, you just don't understand the books" logic? What utter nonsense. Discuss the topic at hand, Peter, don't insult Prue for making a perfectly reasonable statement. This kind of ad hominem comment is beneath you.

And before you complain that I'm making my dissent known publicly rather than through private email, let me remind you that you made this insult publicly and therefore affects all of us who participate on Tarboard. If we feel we're to be met with this kind of response, it greatly reduces any incentive to contribute. So, it is not a private matter, it's a public one and I make my comments public as a result.

- Jonathan
