I agree very much with Richard B. I cannot understand how any person could discourage any new attempt to interest people in the wonderful books of AR and the localities they are set in. Peter R has undoubted organisational abilities, and I hope this new club will offer him a full opportunity to display them. He may well end up being very busy! I think Peter is wise to concentrate on the 'activity' side of AR - the 'literary' side tends to be controversial.

There is plenty of scope for the NRP to do things which existing Ransome societies do not specialise in. For example, when the NRP is fully up and running, I would like to think that the Club might help people who have never sailed to experience, however briefly, the sensation of being under sail – the experience which is so vividly described by AR. Just half an hour in a wooden sailing dinghy would for some of us be a marvellous first-time experience. Go it Badboy!
