Thanks for the reassurance, Kathy. I hope to confirm the present state of the Dogs Home soon. Of course, maybe we are all missing the point slightly, in that the DH is supposed to be a bit of a shambles. It was never supposed to be the Holiday Inn. I think that the DH ideally should continue to have a sound roof and walls, and a door that works. Otherwise - whatever. String is neither here nor there - it's not going to last long anyway. The last thing we want is for the Dogs Home to be all tarted up. It ought to look a bit uninhabitable, as it did at first to Dick and Dorothea. In fact, had there been vandalism in the 1930s, AR might have 'inflicted' some on the Dogs Home.
