Thanks Kate. I got the idea of two Aubrey de Selincourts from a library
catalogue. I would like to know what your mum says. He also wrote
The Channel Shore which I managed to have a look at through my local
library but haven't read because it was not available for loan.
A friend in the girlsown chat group told me that he wrote a career
novel about a new teacher, his brother, Ernest was a Wordsworth scholar
and his sister Dorothy married A.A. Milne. One person queried whether
he translated the Penguin Heroditus. Apparently "Herodotus and his
world" or similar title has an introduction to him. And Christopher Milne,
in his memoirs says his father could have been writing about the de Selincourts
when he made Rabbit say "Some of us have brians and the others have fluff".
