There does seem to have been a collision of postings. You confuse the House and garden with any possible estate. The two are not related.

The idea of Beckfoot having an estate has been mooted for a long time, and before you say I am just assuming things not in evidence, it has been the major subject of debate on Tarboard for a very long time. It was being discussed when I first joined TARS.

The ideas for this have included several incidents such as the way locals are depicted in the text addressing Nancy e.g. "Miss Nancy" as opposed to "Miss Blackett". The form of address and the treatment used by the Dixons to Nancy. If I remember the reference correctly, somewhere it is stated that Mrs Dixon was former Nanny to the Blacketts. The way the Policeman addresses Nancy in SA over the Houseboat break in.
