Shame that AR didn't find a way of working a Mary Celeste theme into one of the books - I am sure that if the S&As had found a deserted sailing ship somewhere (Secret Water, maybe ?) they would have instantly regarded it as their own Mary Celeste.
Going completely off-topic, older Doctor Who fans know that what caused the MC's crew to abandon ship was the arrival on deck of the Tardis (crewed by William Hartnell's Doctor and, I think, Ian & Barbara) closely followed by a second time machine full of Daleks.
