Great Western Railway supporters never let facts affect what they say.

Crewe may have been just a sub shed of the Great Western, but it was infinitely more significant as the Locomotive Works and a principal junction of the old London & North Western, which by the 1930s had become part of the London Midland and Scottish, and which was the line used by AR's characters between London and the Lakes.

As such it had two enormous sheds - Crewe North (5A) and Crewe South (5B)
