I am curious (like Jock I think) about the motivation for commissioning new illustrations for translations and other overseas editions. Did they have to pay extra to include the original illustrations? More than the cost of commissioning new ones? Or did they think that a local artist would aid the translation process? Maybe they just didn't like AR's pictures?
Any theories? Or even snippets of evidence?
