I just received my copy in the mail yesterday, and wondered if anyone wants to discuss the book. I live in the Midwest US, so I assume that many of you already have it.

I particularily liked the illustrations. The original cover was interesting too, as was the Jonathon Cape style cover of this edition.

I suspect that many people were inspired to write by AR, but prior to now, we only heard about Katerine Hull and Pamela Whitlock. Like the books by them, this one had some things that adults would wince at, but children would accept. In a way, Dennis Bird's book takes us back to what we were like when we first discovered the stories. Well, those of us fortunate enough to find them while still young in years anyway. :-)

I am grateful that the literary executors made an exception and let us see this gem from long ago.

Claire
