Thanks to all for the replies. I may be a bit ambitious but I've got two and a half weeks military leave and rather than coming home and integrating into life, my wife and a couple of our kids are planning to meet me in Britain. I know that I could spend the whole time in one area but we want to see a fair bit. Right now I've planned a full day for driving between each area. We're looking at 3 nights in Pin Mill, 2 near Horning (though I'm wondering if this can be combined into one destination with day trips), 3 in York or Whitby, 2 in Edinburgh, 3 in Inverness, 1 in Carlisle and 3 in the lakes. Then drive to the airport hotel and prep to go back to work. If I'm right off my rocker, let me know!
