I'm a bit puzzled. I can't find it in my September edition of The Railway Magazine.

The definitive book of pictures of Lowestoft railways is 'The Lowestoft Train' by Malcolm White. Still in print.

There was a discussion some months ago on Tarboard about David Carter's book and Lowestoft. Unlike, for example CC, where we can identify the actual train on which the D's travelled, all we know from PD is that the Swallows arrived about midday. But they could have come by any of three routes - from Ipswich via Beccles, from Norwich or from Yarmouth by the M & GN from the Midlands. There just isn't enough data.

Lowestoft Central station and that part of the harbour are still very much as in 1930, except that the station roof was removed ten years ago despite strong opposition from some of us locals, and the quay where Peter Duck sat and the Wild Cat was berthed had been fenced off because of that evil genie Health and Safety. It all looks the same from the water. But there is no longer a fishing fleet on the seaward side of the bridge.
