The outdoor life of all the S&A series means that lots of Scout/Guide techniques and skills are employed - firelighting, navigating, pitching camp etc. However, I can't recall there being any mention of any of the children belonging to the Scouts or Guides. A 'scout knife' is referred to, but in the context of it being a knife used by a scout, not a Scout (IYSWIM).

I would have thought all the children were prime candidates for the Scouts/Guides of the 1930's. I wonder did AR have any knowledge/dealings with the Scout Movement of the time?
