And I dare say that, as I did, in Holland with one, in 1976, you made the mistake of stopping it in a lock - once!

The only engine that I can think of that was easier to start from cold than when hot! After towing out of the Flushing sea lock (tenuous AR connection!) by hand, I decided to keep the blighter going whilst in each lock, thereafter, and to ignore the wrathful stares of Germans with superior machinery.

But may I venture to suggest that you had not read the makers' Instruction Book, which states, a propos starting when hot, "If all else fails, try a new, COLD (emphasis not mine, it's in italics in the original!), plug."
