[Cook]
"Well, I must say, Miss Ruth, you haven't had much time..."
-----
[Cook, repeating the mode of addressing used on the GA's telegram]
"Hullo... Hullo... telegram, did you say?... Eh?... Mrs. Blackett is away... Miss Ruth Blackett... Wait a minute... Hold on, please. I'll call her..."
-----
"It's a telegram for you, Miss Ruth..."
-----
"Miss Ruth Blackett," said Cook firmly. "That's what they said."

The postman was just handing the letters over. "Nay," he was saying, "There's a postcard for each of you... Bergen postmark... Fine-looking place... And a letter for Miss Ruth Blackett... Eh?

"I'm sure I beg pardon, Miss Ruth," said the policeman, turning redder than ever.
-----
"No, don't do that, Miss Ruth," said the policeman. "Not today. I've got to row right down to the foot of the lake."
-----
"Miss Ruth and Miss Peggy," he begged, "don't you say anything to mother."

"Shoo," said Mrs. Dixon, "Shoo," and the geese went off to the other end of the yard. ...
You won't be seeing so much of Miss Ruth and Miss Peggy just now. Nor their Uncle Jim neither."

"That's right," said the old man. "If he keeps his foot off the ground for a day he'll never know he harmed it. And how are you, Miss Ruth, and you, Miss Peggy?

[Mrs. Dixon]
"You've not lost much time about it," she said. "I was thinking you'd be running into each other somewhere. Well, Miss Ruth and Miss Peggy, and how's your mother keeping, and what's the news from your Uncle Jim?
-----
"Glad to see the backs of you," said Mrs. Dixon. "I've washing to do today. You've come just at the right time, Miss Ruth, or Nancy is it? I'm forgetting.

Looks like Mrs. Dixon persisted in the "Ruth" concept, even after SD, as she uses the Ruth name in WH which is after SD.
