The difference between a "vase" and "vawse" -- a "vawse" costs over a hundred dollars. As far as I have known, "ZED" would be a phonetic pronounciation of the letter "Z", as "ALPHA" is for "A" or as it was when I was in the service, "ABLE, BAKER, CHARLIE, DOG" etc. Remember "Checkpoint CHARLIE"?
