I have always owned old boats, still do have a traditional wooden lug sailed dinghy.

But I do have to admit that whereas with my late lamented wooden clinker cruiser we usually started sailing at the beginning of June after a couple of months scraping and painting, I have today just come home from a trip down the Orwell and back in my (fairly classic) plastic cruiser, which took just 3 short days to fit out. And it is still April. Perhaps despite all I have said in the past there is just a little to be said for modern materials.

Perfect day, force 4 to 5 NE wind so a reach both ways, warm sun, hardly anybody else on the water, the river rather like what it must have been when AR sailed on it.

I still draw the line at white plastic, however.
