But at the level most people (like me many years ago) play it a cricket match lasts just for an afternoon, or often just for an evening.
The game really is best enjoyed as a spectator, lying on the grass in the warm sun with a pint of beer at hand.
I once went to a high level baseball match in Salt Lake City, and nothing seemed to happen at all, other than the sides changing places occasionally. As I recall it three runs (or whatever) were scored all evening. And there wasn't any beer, either.
