one of the best attempts at a story in AR genre. Set on the Suffolk coast it involve birdwatching and a group of kids/children/ young adults conducting an amateur archaeological dig

Can Andy possibly remember some more details? A lengthy session on Google turned nothing up. It sounds like the sort of story they had on the old radio 'Children's Hour' (but I am not suggesting Andy is old enough to have listened to that). While I am on, has anyone read No Boats on Bannermere by Geoffrey Trease, published by Heinemann in 1949? It is a children's adventure set in the Lake District and by all accounts is Ransomeish, or perhaps 'Ransome-lite' might be a better description. (I have to admit that I have not read it.)
