Maybe they should look at a different month, No doubt impossible due to the bye-laws.

Not a question of byelaws, Rob, but rather logistics. It is obviously preferable to hold the IAGM event on a bank holiday weekend (for overseas Tarboarders, this mean that the Monday is a national holiday). This means that members do not have to rush off on Sunday to go back to schools, offices etc on the Monday, so the IAGM weekend can last from Fri evening to Monday morning. This means that the IAGM has to be held either at the end of May or the end of August. In August, a lot of people are away on holiday, and there is less daylight available. So May is considered preferable. The weather can be mixed, but last year at Coniston the weather was mainly OK (some rain on the Saturday) and in 2005 at Hay-on-Wye the weather was good throughout. It's the luck of the draw. Generally speaking, I can remember more good weather than bad at IAGMs. The recent bank holiday weekend was one of the coldest and wettest on record. Are Messrs Hakim and Roche blaming the IAGM organisers for that???
