A chance remark brought the Armitt Centre, Ambleside to my attention.
I now quote from their Web page: '"The Collingwoods" interactive allows the
visitor to speak to various members of the Collingwood family, including
William Gershom, two of his children, Barbara and Robin, as well as
Oscar Gnosspelious, the famous Waterplane designer who later married
Barbara Collingwood.'

My informant told me one of the questions one can ask Barbara is "Did
Arthur Ransome ask you to marry him?"

Perhaps a TAR with knowledge would be so kind as to indicate the
address of the Armitt Centre (which is not included on the website).
