Yes, a small group of us including two Juniors found a really good Peter Duck cave in a well-defined valley at the top of Tilberthwaite Ghyll, which I now call Swallowdale 3. We know AR knew this area well - he used it as High Topps of course. The area is littered with old mines, but this cave is different - the entrance is only about 3 feet high rather than full standing height. Perhaps it was started as a mine but quickly abandoned.

However, it really supports the amalgam theory, as although it has a proper cave, waterfalls at either end, a very well shaped valley hidden from the nearby miner's track and is the right length of climb through trees; the outflow waterfall is too high and steep sided and the location is way out - nowhere near a lake. As a setting, the well-known site of Swallowdale 1 is of course spot on. However, I am convinced that AR took elements from this other valley he knew some 8 miles to the north to create his Swallowdale.
