The smaller building referred to by Jock seems to have the "garden door" in it, if the picture: "Captain Nancy gives Instructions" in Ch X of WH is to be believed.
I assume that the passage goes along the approximate centre of the ground floor (first floor for the Americans :-) ) and then finishes at the "garden door".
All very confusing !
