In other words, when ocean or deep-sea sailing, the water really is a brilliant blue.

Well, er yes... but water is blue not only when ocean or deep-sea sailing. What's the colour of water in a swimming pool? Or in a deep china clay pool when the sunlight is reflected back from the depths by the microscopic particles of suspended clay. A long column of clean water looking through its length is blue. So when you asked in message 29335 Why is the Channel not 'blue water'? you were actually asking the right question. I answered it quite literally in my post 29336.
