I have never read O'Brian's work but... I was hoping that I might be persuaded.

The characters and their relationships are sketched in life-like detail. Each plot is fresh and gripping.
The naval technicalities are well researched. The historical background is illuminating. Whatever book
you pick up, you'll find it difficult to put down.

You'll also be glad to know, that the plumbing arrangements extend no further than barrel and bucket.

Go on, what are you waiting for?
