I confess to wanting GN to be 'made up' as it doesn't seem to come alive as the others do.
I got quite excited with Ed's Roman numerals theory, pity he seems to have exploded it himself. Paul's letter from AR was new evidence for me, I wonder if anything similar exists for GN.
Jock is right to say that the evidence for GN being a PD is slight, the gun argument isn't very convincing for the reason he gives. The outside of holiday time argument is more convincing. There is also a comment made by Dot to the effect that she and Dick were passengers compared to those much more experinced sailors the S & A s. Now in 'real life'although the Swallows had sailed Goblin across the N Sea, making them experienced in any one's books, the Amazons had no recorded expereince sailing big boats in the sea, except in PD and ML, whereas Dick and Dot had, at least, sailed the Teasel. Where and when did Nancy learn to swing the lead? Not on the Lake, surely?
