Helen & I visited in 2004, and it looked like something old & possibly military--reminded me a bit of the batteries along our coastline, which were installed for WWI. Used exactly once, when a Japanese sub strayed a bit close to us during WWII.

BTW, Jock, nice job on your website. I thoroughly enjoyed working my way down the page, exploring links, and finishing up with a long perusal of various maps of the Pull Wyke area, trying to figure out where the house-made-into-school featured in Ian Hobb's "Beckfoot Found" article. Thanks for the link!
