This was a stew with cubed brain and pigs trotters plus various vegetables plus pearl barley.

Your stew is mouth-watering, Owen. I've noticed that a really good broth or stew 'sets' when it gets cold.
Alas, too many people are making do with the add-hot-water-to-a-tub type of soup. Who's for a new book,
"Beckfoot Kitchen, Pantry and Larder"?
