From memory, I think he may be in error. A boathouse may be mentioned in the story (N&P sneaking out to bail Amazon, and nearly being spotted "worshiping the pagan goddess"), but the only opportunity we'd have to "see" one is at the finish to the race. It's possible an illustration may show a double-peaked roof, but as I recall there's only mention of one boathouse (this also holds for WH, PP and PM, IIRC).
