Of course, the discrepency could arise from AR having more than one house in mind as his model of Beckfoot. When he is thinking of one location the boathouse might be firmly on the river, another one may have the boathouse out onto the lake. I always imagine the boathouse on the river, or at least into quite a bay by where the river enters the lake.
