Your project to collect 1930s camping gear is after my own heart. There's something infinitely more satisfying about traditional camping. We're lucky in Connecticut that camp fires are expected rather than frowned on at most campsites and I invested in a three legged pot a couple of years ago which is amazingly effective. We even managed to cook brownies in it on one trip. We've got some good lakes around here too and the kids want to go camping on an island this summer. I'd be very interested in what gear you've managed to collect so far - I just ordered a Dietz hurricane lamp which I'm very excited about - I guess one day I'll grow up :-)
