welcome! I'm interested in recreating scenes from the books, and staged a version of the Swallows Camp on WCI:
but this used basic old army surplus tents on rope, and with the sides pegged out. This photo is also posted on the associated yahoo website (see above) - I'll post more of my recreation photos there. BTW, this is February in the TARS Calendar!

I am raising within TARS the idea of a project to pull together genuine old 1930's camping equipment, reproduction stuff, and Swallows' style tents, accompanied by an oral history project of members' memories of camping in this period, to preserve this aspect of history and allow accurate scenes to be created.

There's a firm in the UK who make recreation tents in canvas:
Albion Canvas and their FAQ page deals briefly with the properties of their canvas tents.
