Thanks for the welcome Ian and thanks both for the information. Great that the first responses aren¡¦t ¡§don¡¦t do it¡¨!!!

Having spent my youth camping in a basha with the cadets I'm not too averse to wiggly things wandering around in the night. However the deer tick thing is quite bad here (live in Connecticut now) with nasty consequences if one attaches for any length of time¡K For this reason I¡¦ve got a bit of a hybrid design floating around in my head. I¡¦m thinking traditional topsides ¡V white canvas, wooden poles (bamboo even!) and then sew in a suitably coloured tarp tub underneath where you wouldn¡¦t see it. That would seem to me to be a good compromise ¡V light through white walls at night, sunlight in the morning ¡V very AR.

I guess the biggest question mark I have is over the fabric. How effective is canvas really? Does it still leak if you touch it? What type should it be? (weave jargon on wholesaler websites ¡V very confusing) Should it be treated? Will it turn into a fireball if I waterproof it?? There seems to be so much conflicting info out there ¡V or perhaps I¡¦m just not bright enough to understand it. Part of me just wants to get an old sheet¡K Isn¡¦t that what they used to do???? I guess I could just ring one of the companies selling this stuff and ask. Hmmm¡K. Sounds a bit like reading the instruction manual¡K ƒº

Cheers
Luke
