If you wanted to continue using Word's spell-check, you could always cut-and-paste from Word into a plain text editor after the check, then cut-and-paste again into the TarBoard Comments panel. But as I guess you've gathered, it hardly seems worth the effort.
I follow Jock's tip and use the Test Post First, which lets me pick up most mistakes before they become indelible....
