In 1949 my junior high school library had all twelve books and I somehow happened to read them pretty much in order. I think it was Missee Lee that I read a good portion of while walking home from school trying at the same time be on the lookout for cars crossing streets while reading. Then it was up to my imagination to adapt my life to the stories! (or was it the other way around?)
