Unfortunately it seems there are some imperatives which make complete protection of the NE Broads, Walton Backwaters etc almost impossible.
If a sea wall is built to hold back the rising sea levels, the sea water just percolates under the coastal dunes and turns all the wetlands salt anyway. Also, the water level will rise due to this problem, and inundate the low-lying parts, thus negating the effect of the sea wall, unless huge pumps are used to keep the level down.

Nobody has yet said what happens to the river system which exits at Yarmouth. Is there a plan to build a weir across that entrance ?
