The question of a barrage at Yarmouth comes up every decade or so, but so far nothing has happened.

Between Lowestoft and Oulton Broad there is an alternative connection between the Broads and the sea which even now floods on occasion.

Already Horsey is definitely brackish, as I found to my cost when I put Horsey water into my steam boiler.
