I am curious whether anyone has uncovered a location for Great Northern? which even remotely resembles

AR claims to have muddled up the locations to prevent people finding the nest but is it all entirely
imaginary or did he have some place in mind?
I have sailed the Inner Hebrides south of Skye but have never been out to Lewis, Harris etc. However
my image of the geopgraphy of those islands is of a less mountainous and deer infested area, perhaps
I'm wrong? They certainly speak a lot of Gaelic there.
Christina Hardyment's excellent book treats this as a "Peter Duck" tale and mentions some visits to
Lewis (I think I recall) by AR. She doesn't examine the geography at all as far as I can recall.
