My daughter from the age of 3 watched the 1974 Swallows and Amazons movie (on video) so many times that she can still (aged 29) pretty much quote the entire script from memory. We later acquired Coot Club & Big Six, mysteriously packaged as "Swallows and Amazons Forever" despite being devoid of any Swallows or Amazons.
I have heard vague stories of an earlier TV version based on Ransome S&A material. Does anyone know anything about this? Or is it mythological? Like many old TV series, if it did exist, there is no guarantee that the tapes have survived- TV stations often treated videotape as a recyclable resource in the early days. I don't remember ever seeing it here in Australia, but what about Britain?
