Quite so Dave, I find this most depressing with my partner's grandchildren. Both go to excellent grammar schools but still will spend ages trawling the likes of Wikipedia for homework when the a book by a respected author in the field on the shelf in the same house, same room sometimes. It seems the notion of primary and secondary sources for research etc is not even hinted at.
