I mostly want to say that I have always been attracted to AR's canon much more than to other children's adventure stories in great part because of his brilliant use of words.

I do so agree Elizabeth. Quite apart from being beautifully structured adventures featuring very appealing characters, they ARE so well written.
The descriptive passages are second to none, I can read P&M again and again, one of my favourite parts is where Dick is taught how to "guddle" for trout.
I have tried other "childrens" authors but always come back to AR.
I am also keen on Sci-Fi and the concept of "alternative realities" is one I love, I would love to visit an alternative reality where he finished Coots In The North and wrote a few more as well.
