"The Log-Driver's Waltz" was written by Wade Hemsworth, according to Wikipedia and he didn't release his first recording, Folk Songs of the Canadian North Woods, until 1956. So it is even later than Newfoundland in joining Confederation. He also wrote Ontario's provincial anthem, "The Little Black Fly"
