Re the Amazon’s “superior sailing skills and experience”, in SA Peggy says during ‘The Parley’ that “we only got the ship last year. We only had a rowing boat before that”. While John learned to sail long ago on Falmouth Harbour it says somewhere.
PM in ‘Launching the Scarab’ mentions Amazon’s “experienced crew”, but the D’s who are novices nearly catch up with Amazon; partly as Nancy says because she (Amazon) has a “Clean bottom” being new.
