GN is indeed weaker from the plotting point of view, but not too bad; CN of course was dropped because the plot was not working.
"The Ruby in the Smoke" will be read - at least I know more about the opium trade in the South China Sea than I do about theology and cosmology - though I have been to Spitzbergen!
