I feel that there are two different questions here-
1) Did Pullman read and enjoy AR? The answer seems to be yes.
2) Will I, an AR reader, enjoy Pullman's books, whether The Dark Materials trilogy, or his other works? There's no answer to this except one's own- we like or dislike books for many reasons. Those reasons may change over time. I came to AR (and Pullman) as an adult reader- I am sure that my experience of the books is far different then it would have been as a 9-year old,
